Virginia Can't Wait

Cost of Living Can't Wait

With skyrocketing inflation and an uncertain economy, we must do everything we can to support families in uncertain times.  We must lower the tax burden on working families- from the gas pump to groceries. We must bring down healthcare cost through innovation.

Ian will fight back against our rising cost of living.

  • Over Regulation and red tape that tie small business owners’ hands and increase the cost of goods and services on our families
  • Oppose Richmond’s out-of-control taxation that is punishing hard-working families.
  • Repeal the personal property tax (car tax)
  • Oppose regulations that increase the cost of utilities
  • Oppose excessive tolls in NOVA
  • Your money is best kept in your wallet, rather than the government’s, and once elected, he will sponsor legislation to cut taxes.

Education Can't Wait

I've spent years working with teachers, parents and the broader community - both as a City Councilman- and also as President of the Manassas City Public Schools Education Foundation.  What my experience has taught is that policies that empower parents and teachers are always best- and top down bureaucracy should be avoided.  We must also work to support the entire education continuum - from our public schools to our home school students.

  • Support innovation in under-performing School Districts
  • Empower parents to guide their children's education
  • Give teacher's greater freedom to innovate and work with parents to respond to unique needs of each student
  • Promote "truth in advertising" in higher education- so students know the clear cost of their education and earning potential for their degree
  • Support student safety through a universal SRO programs
  • Support student safety through improved access to mental health resources community wide
  • Champion career and technical education
  • Support wrap-around and out of school programing
  •  Support college partnership LAB schools

Public Safety Can't Wait

Ensuring public safety is one of the top priorities of government at any level.  We should strive to have the best paid, best trained and most respected law enforcement officers in the nation.

  • We must never give in to partisan calls to defund the police.
  • We must encourage community policing
  • Ensure any school that wants an SRO has access to one
  • Give law enforcement the right tools to help keep our communities safe.
  • Must grow and fortify programs like Operation Ceasefire (even against Senate opposition)
  • Restore rebuttable presumption that people held on trial for certain serious, dangerous crimes such as murder are not eligible for bail.
  • Pass legislation that will hold fentanyl dealers truly accountable for the lives they take
  • Support the Governors efforts in ending human trafficking in Virginia and follow recommendations of the Human Trafficking Commission Final Report Recommendations including:
  • Remove any person convicted of a felony offense involving a firearm from eligibility form enhanced earned sentence credits
  • Higher mandatory sentences for gun crimes (defeated in senate)

Defunding the police means higher crime rates. Ian will back the blue and work to ensure our brave men and women in law enforcement have the funds and resources they need to keep our families and community safe. Ian will also repeal soft-on-crime legislation passed in Richmond.

Our Neighborhoods Can't Wait

Prince William County is home to beautiful

national parks, family farms, scenic views

and recreation. Ian will work to preserve our

open spaces, especially the rural crescent,

and support responsible growth

that preserves open lands.

We need to preserve residential neighborhoods and the rural crescent by:

  • Updating regulations on noise and visual impacts so development cannot interfere with residential neighborhoods
  • Ensure historic, natural and agricultural resources are protected
  • Understand all short term and long term impacts (water, electrical)
  • Focus on broad economic development of small businesses rather than putting all our eggs in one basket with one industry

The Economy Can't Wait

As Chairman of the Manassas City Economic Development committee Ian worked directly with staff and community partners to bring quality jobs to our region.  As an entrepreneur, inventor and  owner of a national recruitment firm Ian  knows what it's like to create jobs and help people find them.

Ian will bring this experience to Richmond and fight for jobs and a thriving economy so that every Virginian has an opportunity to excel.
We must:

  • Virginia ranks in the bottom 3rd when it comes to ease of starting a business.  We must reduce regulations/red tape on our small businesses
  •  Virginia ranks 26th in the nation when it comes to business tax climate.  We must lighten the tax burden on job creators.
  • BPOL must be reformed to apply only to net revenue, not gross revenue
  • Ensure state economic development resources go to support small businesses as much as they do larger ones
  • Remove college degree requirement from all state jobs that do not absolutely need them

Traffic Can't Wait

As a Councilman Ian supported common sense transportation, traffic and development solutions to improve the time you spend commuting.

  • Support smart growth in the region opposing excessive high density development where infrastructure cannot support it
  • Support continuation and expansion of remote work culture
  • Ensure our region receives its fair share of transportation tax dollars
  • Support widening of Rt. 28 and Godwin Extension
  • Support VRE upgrades and expansion to include weekend service

Our Veterans Can't Wait

Virginia is home to nearly 800,000 veterans- and many live and work in the 22nd House of Delegates District.  We owe our active duty and former military, reservists, Nation Guard and their families not only our sincere gratitude but a clear plan of action to make Virginia the number one state in the Union for veterans.
Supporting Veterans and helping them find jobs is one reason I started Reliant Hiring Solutions- Veteran focused hiring remains one of our top priorities.

  • Improve the transfer of military training to civilian certification
  • Support veterans and mental health dockets in Virginia Courts
  • Support and expand Virginia's Veteran's Care Centers
  • Build partnerships to establish Veteran's legal and benefits clinics in all regions
